Aistear in Junior and Senior Infants
Our theme this month has been “At The Vet”. We have been learning about the many reasons people bring their pets to the Veterinary Surgery and have had great fun role playing this theme. We micro chipped our dogs and returned a dog that had been found wandering around our classroom by scanning him and phoning his worried owner. We got vaccinations for our pets to prevent them getting sick, we took x-rays to check for broken bones and learned about taking good care of our pets.
We learned that the vet is very busy at the moment, helping the farmer to take care of animals who are having new babies on the farm. We had fun matching baby animals to their mammies! Did you know a baby donkey is called a jenny and a baby horse is a foal?
At the sand table we had to find pairs; a butterfly and a caterpillar, a frog and a tadpole, a cat and a kitten!
At our geography station we learned about clothes for different seasons and had fun making a weather doll.
we made animals using play dough and got very creative at our junk art station.
