Mercy Primary School Choir

Mercy Primary School choir are delighted to be taking part in the Cross Border Peace Proms concert, which will take place in The Hub, Kilkenny on Saturday 1st March. The girls and their teachers have been working very hard to learn the pieces which will be performed. Almost 800 children from 13 schools will have the chance to perform with the Cross Border Orchestra under the guidance of well-known conductor Gearóid Grant.

The Cross Border Orchestra was established in 1995 as a peace initiative and is now composed of 120 young people from the north and south of Ireland. The Peace Proms promote cultural connections, peace, tolerance, unity and excellence in music education and performance. It is an honour for our choir to be able to take part.

They are also practicing to take part in Conradh na Gaeilge, Nenagh’s “Féile an Aonaigh”. This is organised each year to promote Irish language activities during Seachtain na nGaeilge. Mercy Primary School choir will take part in the “Slua Amhránaíocht” competition on Thursday 13th March, where they will sing 2 songs in 2-part harmony, as Gaeilge.

Go n’éirí libh a chailíní!
