Anima Chamber Choir with Mercy Primary School Choir

We are delighted to announce that the Mercy Primary School Choir will sing in a concert with Anima  Chamber Choir, Dublin  on Saturday April 26th at 5p.m. in St. Brendan’s Church, Birr.

Anima Chamber Choir are directed and conducted by Bernard Sexton. Bernard is a very well-known composer of both sacred and secular music. He wrote the hymn “Though we are Many” which was the signature hymn for the Eucharistic Congress. He also wrote the parts for the Eucharistic Congress mass.

Anima Chamber Choir was founded in September 2008.  The choir sings a wide range of music and has performed in a number of venues in Dublin including The Peppercanister Church, The Church of St. Nicholas of Myra, Francis Street. In May 2012, the choir participated in the AIMS Choral Festival in New Ross where they were awarded first prize in the Chamber Music Competition and first prize in the Sacred Music Competition. The choir has been a finalist on 3 occasions in the Lyric FM Choirs for Christmas Competition.

In spring 2010 the choir performed in Catania, Sicily and last December travelled to Copenhagen, Denmark to perform.

They released their first CD last Christmas. They are really looking forward to their first concert in Birr and to performing with the children of the Mercy Primary School Choir. They are delighted to be able to support the school.

The concert will be called “Madrigals and Moondust” and will be a lovely evening’s entertainment.

Tickets are on sale in the school office on 057 9120259 until Friday 11th April, in the Parish Office until the day of the concert  and will also be available on the door. They are priced at €8 for adults and €5 for children.

All money raised will help pay for the ongoing music lessons in each classroom. Your support will be much appreciated.
