Friendship Week in Third Class
Third class celebrated ‘Friendship Week’ with a variety of activities throughout the week.
We decorated our classroom windows with little people holding hands to show friendship.
We discussed what being a friend is and the girls came up with fabulous words describing what being a friend is to them.
We made our very own ‘Circle of Friends’.
On Monday each girl was given a secret buddy who they had to be extra nice to that week!
We did buddy reading with our friends in fourth class in the afternoon and we thoroughly enjoyed that.
On Tuesday we teamed up with our friends in fourth class again to learn and sing a song about friendship from our ‘Right Note’ music program called ‘Vive La Compagnie’.This is a French song meaning ‘Long Live Friendship’.
We then worked in groups and wrote acrostic poems using Friendship as the theme.
On Wednesday using our SPHE program we read a poem about bullying and participated in the school Anti-Bullying poster competition.
The posters created by the girls were amazing. Well done everyone!
On Thursday we discussed how each of us are different, and although we are different we fit right in here in third class and in Mercy Primary School. We each got a jig-saw puzzle piece and described ourselves and our interests, then made the jig saw!
We did this activity with the girls in fourth class also.
Another fun activity we did was to stick a page to our backs and other girls wrote positive comments on the page.
We have added our picture to the page and they will be proudly displayed in our classroom.
On Friday we celebrated our school mass. Second and third class sang ‘Circle of Friends’ on the altar.
It was a beautiful ceremony and was an excellent way to end such a fabulous week in Mercy Primary School.
We cannot wait until next year!
