Local artist and author George Dempsey visited Second Class. First Ms. de Chaumont read his new book ‘The Adventures of Flopsy Hop the Rabbit in Origami Wonderland’ to the class.

Afterwards they enjoyed chatting about the book with George. Next they made some of the characters from the story using origami.

They made  a lovely art display. Take a look…

Congratulations to the children from Second Class who received the Eucharist for the first time on Saturday May 9th 2015.

We wish God’s blessing on them, their families, friends and teachers and all who helped them on their faith journey to this special time.

Congratulations to the girls from Second Class who took part in the Write a Book Competition. They all wrote and published fantastic books. They should be very proud of them. Each child received a certificate.

Some girls were given Merit and Highly Commended awards for their books.

They attended a lovely awards ceremony in Racket Hall in Roscrea with their family, friends and teacher. Well done to all!

On May 28th Second Class went to Lullymore on their school tour. They had a brilliant day. Take a look at the School Tour post on the school website!

Grandparents Day was on June 5th. Second Class sang songs, recited poems, played tunes on the tin whistle and danced for their parents and grandparents. They wrote fabulous poems and made gorgeous books about their grandparents. It was a very special and enjoyable day. Take a look at the Grandparents Day post on the school website!

We also raised our 3rd Green Flag this term. It was a great day for the school. Well done to Chantelle and Mary who were the Second Class representatives on the Green Schools Committee for the last two years. Take a look at the Green Flag post on the school website.

On June 12th the children from Junior Infants to Second Class took part in the Junior Sports Day. They did lots of different activities throughout the day. The children had great fun and were very tired at the end of the day.Well done to all involved.

The weather was fantastic this term. So we decided to do some  Art outside. The children did chalk doodles on the tarmac which really brightened up the school yard.

Also Second Class visited the local playground for PE. They had a great time climbing, sliding, swinging, running and balancing.

As you can see we have had a very busy third term!

I think we all deserve a holiday after that!!

Have a wonderful Summer everyone.
