Science Fun in 5th Class!

Fifth Class have been learning about how our bodies work. We have explored our bones,

lungs, muscles, and this week we have learned about the digestive system. We discovered

how we digest our food throughout the day. We investigated how brown bread is digested

in our bodies for Science Week! We used household items to represent the teeth, saliva, an

oesophagus, a stomach, a small intestine and a large intestine. We observed gastric juices

(vinegar) breaking down our food in the stomach, and the small and large intestines

(towels) absorbing nutrients, minerals and water from the brown bread. The girls could

not believe the end product!! You should have seen their faces!!
