Origami in Second Class

Local artist and author George Dempsey Flanagan visited

our school on Friday.

First he read his new book entitled ‘Swimsy the Goldfish’

to the girls in Second Class.

Next the girls looked at the beautiful

illustrations in the book. Then George showed them how

to make some of the characters using the art of origami.

The children enjoyed  making these.

After lunch the children were invited to Spinners

where George read his book ‘The Adventures of Flopsy Hop

in Origami Wonderland’ in front of some TV cameras.

The children loved this story and they will be on Irish TV

in the near future!

Finally each girl received a beautiful origami bird

as a little gift from George.

They had a fantastic day.
