We love Reading

Second Class took part in a Reading Challenge in Birr Library recently. They were very busy in the last term reading as many books as they could. Altogether the children read 353 books. Well done  Every girl received a certificate. Here is a picture of us receiving our certificates in the library.

Town Trail Local Studies

 

Our local studies.

                 We studied change and continuity in some shops and businesses in Birr. We compared old photos with modern photographs.  We also learned the history of markets and fairs in Birr, where and when they were held and what may have been sold.

Adding the final touches to our Pottery in First Class. May 2013

                  First class painted their pottery heads and wall planters using a great variety of colours. The girls had fun mixing paints and creating some very vibrant colours. They are all very proud of their creations!

Our Minibeast Hunt in First Class May 2013

        First class girls went to Camcor Park on a minibeast hunt.  We had a very enjoyable and worthwhile outing.  As a follow up activity, we examined many of our findings closely under magnification!!!!!
