Different Feathers
First class read 3 beautiful stories recently from the Irish Red Cross that aim to promote the acceptance of social diversities. The stories were Sabina the Swallow a story book on the topic of migration. Paul the Pigeon a story book on the topic of disabilities. Finley the Finch a story book on the topic of gender stereotyping
The girls absolutely adored the stories, illustrations and activities that accompanied each story. Having read all three stories the girls created these beautiful pieces of art. They each designed their own bird with different feathers in a way that they felt represented them. On the branch each girl wrote one of their many talents. We learned through the stories that we all have different talents and strengths and we should be proud of that.
