Newsletter April 2013

Welcome to our April newsletter. We all arrived back at school well-rested and ready to go for our final term at Mercy Primary School. It is hard to believe we are at this stage of the year already. Lots of activities are ongoing and we are very busy as usual.

Swimming has started and Ranganna 1 go dtí 6 are all taking part. It is great to see so many involved in such an important activity.

Camogie coaching is ongoing with Hughie Hannon and this term the 2 4th classes are taking part and the girls in 5th and 6th from our school team.

Tag Rugby is also on for our girls in 5th and 6th and they are enjoying it very much.

Choir is ongoing on Monday afternoons – a huge thanks is due to Miss Treacy and Miss McDonnell, as they are giving up their free time to this. We hope to have a small concert towards the end of the year and we will inform you of the date closer to the time.

We are thrilled to have been awarded our 2nd Green Flag on the theme of Energy.  Well done to Ms. De Chaumont and the Green committee for all their hard work and dedication. We will have our flag raising ceremony at the end of the school year.

During April, Sr. Essie, the Diocesan inspector spent 2 days with us. She was very impressed with the school, staff and girls. She felt the school worked hard to deliver the Religion programme and the girls had an excellent knowledge base and understanding of their faith. The girls were respectful towards her and she said it was a pleasure to be in the school. Isn’t that lovely to hear?

The Parents’ Association held their fundraising Cake Sale and Raffle on 19th of April. It was a huge success and was great fun for all involved. As always, our Parents’ Association is a great support to our school and we are lucky and are thankful to have them. Well done to all involved!

1st and 6th classes had a 3 day Pottery workshop with Fin O Hara. They produced some amazing pottery. Have a look at the school website to see some of their creations.  It was very enjoyable and something we look forward to every year.

Our school camogie team are in the midst of the Cumann na mBunscoil competition. They are representing the school very well and are making a great effort.
