New Shoes!!! Yes please.
We love art and we love shoes….. so what a great combo!
We learned a lovely new poem called ‘Choosing Shoes’ by Frida Wolfe.
New shoes, new shoes,
Red and pink and blue shoes.
Tell me, what would you choose,
If they’d let us buy?
Buckle shoes, bow shoes,
Pretty pointy-toe shoes,
Strappy, cappy low shoes;
Let’s have some to try.
Bright shoes, white shoes,
Dandy-dance-by-night shoes,
Perhaps-a-little-tight shoes,
Like some? So would I.
BUT
Flat shoes, fat shoes,
Stump-along-like-that shoes,
Wipe-them-on-the-mat shoes,
That’s the sort they’ll buy.
We loved the poem so much that we decided to base an art lesson on it.
We all looked at home for old shoes that were ready for the bin. With our parents permission we brought the shoes into school.
Firstly we painted our shoes one block colour: white, red, blue, green or black.
When they were dry the real fun began. We became the Christian Louboutin’s of Mercy Primary School and designed our shoes using different coloured acrylic paints, buttons, sequins, feathers, stickers etc….
Our shoes are D.D.G. (drop dead georgeous!).
